Our veterans

No matter your stance on the war, as an American, it's hard to deny it takes a lot of a person to serve in our military. So, to all the veterans out there, I, along with everyone else at Apply Stuff, honor you and your time spent serving our country.

Thanks,
Nick

Seriously, it's almost done.

I know I've said it before, but our website is just about ready for launch. Here is a screen shot to prove it:

It should be live and running tonight or tomorrow. (I'm excited).

You'll never have to flush these guys

You can go on vacation without worrying about these fish.

You get a few sheets with all the different aquarium parts--sea weed, fish, and bubbles. Since you lay it out yourself, your sea wall will be unique.

All together, it will take up about 4 ft. x 4 ft. but you can spread it out or compact it as much as you need.

Something to hold you over

We have been working hard to get our new website up, and we are still making some tweaks, but until it's done, here is some new stuff everyone has been working on:

This stylish lamp is from Allen Haselrig.

Kites from Kelli Townsend.

These trees are from Andy Scott.

FINALLY!

After all the trouble we have been having, a functioning website should be up next week! This means that everyone outside the three rivers will be able to safely buy our awesome wall graphics from the comfort of your homes.

Just a few more days.....

Introduction: Keith McCafferty

Keith is the newest addition to our designers. He is another Pittsburgh local with a pretty cool style. We hope to be bringing you a lot of stuff by Keith in the future. For now, check out this robot...
(This isn't Keith. This is Allen doing his best impression of a robot.)

It is about 4 feet tall, and with his arms out, he is just a tad over 4 feet wide. It is broken up into segments, so you can position him however you want (or however the robots demand you to...).

You don't have to be a sailor

Sailors used to get a sparrow tattoo for every 5,000 nautical miles of travel--it was seen as good luck. I don't know many sailors these days, so these sparrows may be able to bring luck to anyone (don't take my word on that, I have pretty poor luck).

With a 24" wingspan, they add bit of character to any space. You get two, one faces right, and one left, so they fill up a wall pretty nice.

They are called "Chippings" and come in yellow, turquoise, and (of course) black.

Gandhi's Birthday

When I went to Google something today I noticed Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's face as the "g" for the Google. So, it must be his birthday. Happy birthday Gandhi, you did some amazing things for this world.

That is why we chose Gandhi to be part of our "Icons" series. We also have the Dalai Lama, and MLK Jr. (Mother Teresa is on the way).

Closed for the G20

Just like 90% of businesses in the area, we will be closed Thursday and Friday (Sept 24 & 25).

Why? Road and bike trail closures, delayed buses, protests, and other happenings are going to make our day to day business very difficult. We will be back Saturday to do some catch up, and next week, business will continue as usual.

Take a peek..

Some of the new stuff has taken longer than expected to finish, but here is a sneak peek:

Here's to American Workers!

We are taking the day off tomorrow, so nothing will be shipping out, and no one will be in the studio, so if you are waiting on something, or wanted to stop by, Tuesday is your day.

Hope everyone enjoys their days off (sorry if you'll be working)!

New stuff.

It's called "Optics"--3 rings, the biggest about 24 inches tall. They come separate, so you get to apply them just how you want. Available in a bunch of bold colors!

This is one of my favorites. It's called "Visualizer". You get 8 red bars, 16 yellow bars, and 24 green bars. Arrange them how ever you want to make your own sound spectrum analyzer. This one is all bass and treble.

Are you on Facebook?

WE ARE!!!

To join all of our friends (I don't like the "fan" term, we are all friends here), we are now on Facebook!

Join us on Facebook and see our newest stuff, get special discounts, and stalk us!

It's up to you

This is called "Small Civilians". You get 18 squares, the rest is up to you. You can also put multiple sets together for something even bigger and better.

"Small Civilians" includes 18 - 3"x3" squares, comes in a variety of colors, and just like everything else we make, applies easily and removes just as easy when it's time to go.

What's with these names?

Naming things is one thing I could definitely live without. So, I came up with a simple solution. I "Google" what it is, and pick some random words from one of the first search results.

So, if you were wondering how any of these names relate, it's Google.

Do you remember the days when blood was censored?

Chances are, you knew what buttons to tap, and just how fast to tap them to access the pixelized blood.

If you don't get it, I suggest you go visit the days of Sega Genesis (tm).

Get "The Code" now!

You can also stop in our studio in the Squirrel Hill Plaza at 826 Hazelwood Ave, Pgh, PA 15213.

Bigger IS Better!

Sometimes size does matter. So, here is a BFC (big frickin' clock). Yes, it actually works!

You get a clock movement, 14" hands, 4- 4" dots, and 6- 2" dots. All you need to add is a AA battery, and a wall. The clock movement attaches to your wall with 3M Command strips, so like everything else, it will remove cleanly and easily. We also throw in a few extra Command strips just in case.

Word n' Stuff

Inspirational, funny, whatever. Stick your favorite words up big and bold!

This is one of my favorites. It was said by Carnegie Mellon's late Randy Pausch (if you have never seen his "Last Lecture" look it up).

Just like everything else we make, it sticks on and is FULLY removable. Your landlord (or parents, we don't judge) will love that you didn't destroy their wall.

It is a fully custom product--font, color, size, (not to mention the words), it's all up to you. You aren't limited to quotes-- song lyrics, poetry, it will all look good on your wall.

Word n' Stuff is also prefect for businesses. Give your clients and employees something to ponder as they walk down your halls.

Since your order is completely custom, prices do vary, but prices start at $80. Email us at info@applystuff.com, call us at 412-894-3329, or visit us at our studio in Pittsburgh in the Squirrel Hill Plaza for a price for your own words n' stuff.

Argyle: A small town in Texas...?

There is this too:A cool, slightly tweaked argyle is available in a few different colors. It's a cool way to add a little bit of style to your room.

8 diamonds, about 3.5 feet worth, are $20. We have orange/silver and silver/black in stock, but a pink pattern will be here soon too.

I promise our online store will be up soon, but until then, shoot us an email at info@applystuff.com, give us a call at 412-894-3329, or drop by our studio in the Squirrel Hill plaza (826 Hazelwood Ave. lower Level, Pgh, Pa 15217).

DAH!

Sorry, we have some new stuff to post, but I keep forgetting the memory card for the camera. Hopefully I will have some stuff up tomorrow....

Where yinz from?

Everyone knows the Oakland, Southside, Mount Washington, East Lib, and Lawrenceville (if you are hip enough).

But! Did you know there are 85 other neighborhoods around our three rivers?

Whether you are in South O or Upper Lawrenceville, let everyone who walks in your place know exactly where they are.

At 32"x40", it is an easy way to add something as unique as the incline (guaranteed conversation starter) to your place. Best part, it goes on easy, and removes clean, so no worries about losing your security deposit! Plus, it's only $40 so it won't break the bank.

Want it? For now, stop by our studio (Squirell Hill Plaza, 826 Hazelwood Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15217) . Can't make it? You'll be able to order it straight to your door very soon, just stay posted.

Another Teaser

Progress.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Art? Decoration? Stuff.

Who likes waiting? No one. So while we are all waiting on the website, I'll give you something everyone likes just as much s waiting, teasers.

A little beast by Andy Scott. We are really excited to show you more of his stuff, but until then check out his blog, A Place For All.

For all of my fellow peddlers, pumpers, pushers, spinners, or what ever other bicycle rider slang you prefer, expect to see a lot of bike stuff....

That's it for now. Check back often--I will keep on posting more teasers the closer we get to the website launch!

FINALLY, it's Official!!!!

The past few months have been filled with a lot of let downs from local real estate and development companies, but finally, we have our space.

Our new location is in the Squirrel Hill Plaza, across from the corner of Murray Ave and Hazelwood Ave, in the Hazelwood/Squirrel Hill area of the city. We are right up Beechwood Ave and Murray Ave coming from Squirrel Hill, and right up Browns Hill Road from The Waterfront and Homestead.

The space will act as a store as well as an open design studio for our designers. We are very excited to get a move on to get everything ready for a grand opening (we will be having an awesome launch party too!)

Our website isn't done yet, but it's very close to being done. For now, keep checking our blog, we will be posting some of the products we are working on this week!

Monday, June 22, 2009

It turns out, people read this.

So, over the past few months we have been working very hard to overcome a few challenges we didn't plan for. Because of this, I haven't utilized this blog, and it seems that I have left some people in the dark.

So lets fast forward to whats going on right now:

-We have locked in a space in Squirrel Hill. We have not signed a lease yet, so it isn't 100% official, but that should be taken care of over the next few days.

-We have been meeting with several artists to talk about their work and how we can work together. (We are always looking for fresh art, so if you think you have the chops, shoot us an email at info@applystuff.com)

Speaking of artists, recently we sat down to lunch at Fatheads in the Southside with Andrew Scott. We are looking forward to working with him to get his work into your home.

Check out some of his stuff at : A Place for All

Store?

You might be wondering where our online store is, or how to get to it. The short answer is, it isn't done yet. We have been working with a great designer/programmer to get it up, but there is more programming involved than initially expected. Most of it has to do with keeping all your precious information safe while shopping with us.

Waiting is horrible, and it is just as bad for us as it is for you, but if you want something now, shoot us an email at info@applystuff.com, and we will work with you to get you something unique now.

Also, we are still working on a location for a brick and mortar store, and we will keep you posted as we find out more.

Update

It has been awhile since I have updated, but I assure you we are still working hard. We have been working very hard with our designers to get a large selection of products ready for launch.

With the less than thriving economy, things have been hard be we are trudging through in order to offer you some really cool products.

Stay tuned, our online store should be up soon!

We are still pumping

It has been a while, but we are still here. Everything is falling into place, and we expect to have the full website up by April 1, and we expect a physical store/studio early in the summer.

A lot of time has been spent exploring the idea of what is is to be a socially responsible company, and what we can do as a company to execute this goal.

We are working on a lot now, and talking with a lot of people about what we can do, but nothing is finalized. However, as deals close I will keep you updated.

The Ball is Rolling

We are working on finalizing all the legal stuff, and then we will be back to finalizing our design team.

We have been browsing real estate listing for commercial space for our studio/production facility/retail store, and we have become very interested in the Lower Lawrenceville area of Pittsburgh, or LoLa as the hip developers are billing it.

So, where will we end up? Who knows.

Fast Track Pittsbugh

Last night I met with Morgan from Fast Track PGH, an organization from Pittsburgh that runs a charity autocross event benefiting Huntington's disease research. Apply Stuff will be working with Fast Track this year and we will be donating product to them.

I will post more details over the next few months a details develop.

Designers

So far I have met with 25 potential designers and artists for our new company. I have met a lot of great people who all do very good work. Not decisions have been made yet, but there are definitly some people I am leaning towards.

I will be meeting with more designers all week.

We will be making decisions in a week or two. Stay posted!

First Post

Hi everyone!

Welcome to our blog. I will be making updates to this blog as Apply Stuff grows and progresses. Here you will find updates on new products, new designs, and new artists, as well as, company updates and news.
